Man's girlfriend wanted for role in child's scalding

Dan Jovic Fox 8- Authorities say that the live-in girlfriend of a man who allegedly scalded his 18-month-old son with hot water is wanted for taking part in the crime. An arrest warrant has been issued for Jenna Casteel, 25, of Coventry, on charges of endangering children and obstructing official business for her involvement in the scalding of the Dusty Gauder’s 18-month-old child. According to Inspector Bill Holland with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Gauder, 27, of Coventry, was taken into custody on July 6, 2012. Gauder has been charged with felonious assault and endangering children after Coventry EMS responded to a home where the child was burned. Through an investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives, it was determined that the toddler’s injuries were caused by his father pouring hot water on him. The child was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment. Inspector Holland did not know the status of the child as of Monday afternoon. Gauder was arrested, charged and transported to the Summit County Jail by deputies. Sheriff’s Deputies are currently attempting to locate Casteel. Holland says she has recently resided in Coventry Township and the Barberton area. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts should contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at 330-643-2181.
